Tower Bridge
The world's most photographed bridge — and Wapping's most theatrical neighbour.
Opened in 1894 after eight years of construction, Tower Bridge was designed by Sir Horace Jones and engineered by Sir John Wolfe Barry. Its bascules — once steam-powered, now electric-hydraulic — still rise around 800 times a year for tall vessels.
The view east from the high-level walkway, down into Wapping and beyond to Canary Wharf, is one of the great views of London.
